...Even later mogen we in de Foyer aansluiten bij KIN, waarin de uit Manchester afkomstige Kim Foster een groep Groningse muzikanten achter zich geschaard heeft om samen duister klinkende psychedelische rock te maken. Vanaf het begin dreunen de partijen van bassiste Maike Dornebosch onheilspellend uit de speakers en als Foster er dan ook nog eens blikken bij begint te trekken alsof ze zojuist haar vinger tussen een deur heeft gekregen, wordt het publiek automatisch door de spanning gegrepen. De originele nummers die KIN laat horen zitten goed in elkaar en gaan steeds op het juiste moment los in luide muzikale ravages, om vervolgens weer naar een dreigend ritme terug te keren. Men zou er als luisteraar bijna bang van worden, en daarmee schiet KIN haar doel vanavond niet voorbij.

Op 18 september brengt KIN haar tweede album 'SLOWTV' uit. Beïnvloed door bands als Radiohead, Portishead, Sonic Youth, The Pixies en Warpaint, maakt KIN een hallucinerende mix van post-rock en triphop. Met de nieuwe single 'Passing Car' heeft KIN direct haar toon gezet. 

'SLOWTV' werd in vijf dagen opgenomen in de 6DB studio's te Manchester. Dit is de opvolger van het debuut 'Flickering' uit 2012. Beide albums werden mede geproduceerd door Simon 'Ding' Archer (The Pixies / PJ Harvey). De band heeft in de tussentijd niet stil gezeten, want in 2013 was daar ook nog de EP 'SOON'.

KIN was het soloproject van Kim R. Foster, die van Engeland naar Nederland verhuisde. Eenmaal hier verzamelde Foster een band om zich heen met o.a. leden van Vox Von Braun en The Swains. Muzikaal is KIN niet makkelijk te categoriseren; de dominante rol van de bas in veel nummers doet denken aan het Britse wavegeluid, maar de band schrikt ook niet terug voor lange hypnotische, bijna minimalachtige passages of een atonale gitaareruptie.

De band speelde al op festivals als Eurosonic, Noorderzon en Incubate. Ook was de band te gast bij BBC6 MUSIC, verscheen op de locale Britse TV en verzorgde KIN het voorprogramma van Britse rockband The Fall.

Op 18 september is de albumpresentatie van 'SLOWTV' in Vera, Groningen. Ook is KIN geselecteerd voor de POPronde 2015.

KIN : Flicks Film Festival

'We had the privilege and pleasure of closing the ceremonies at the Usva-ESN Flicks Film Festival this past Saturday ... we thank them warmly for having us along and congratulate them on a great few days celebrating short-film making!'

In fact there is something very ghostly about this whole gig; it sounds like I'm listening to a shade of a brilliant actor being brought back from across the great divide. Spine tingling stuff.
